The selection of members for the new board of directors of the La Chorrera Fair has sparked controversy between the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture of La Chorrera (CCIATPO) and the National Fairs Commission (CONAFER). In a statement signed by the president of CCIATPO, Juan Antonio Ledezma, this guild expresses its strong protest against what it calls the "arbitrary decision" by CONAFER to exclude it from the board of the La Chorrera Fair. The CCIATPO statement points out that it was replaced by the National Lasso Association, which "does not meet the requirements or representativeness demanded by current regulations." "This exclusion not only affects the development of the La Chorrera district but also goes against the principles established in our Constitution to guarantee the active participation of the employer sector in economic activities of this kind," the statement indicates. In this way, CCIATPO expresses its categorical rejection of the decision made by CONAFER, considering it detrimental to the economic and productive interests of the district. In response to these allegations, the board of CONAFER also stated in a communication that the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture of La Chorrera did not submit all the requested documentation to apply. The CCIATPO failed to attach a copy of the public deed that certifies its legal personality, the statement indicates, and therefore did not meet the minimum requirements. The document also indicates that the decision made was consulted with all members of CONAFER.
